Building located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA. The background is encaustic (painting with hot wax). The building is a high resolution photograph. I airbrushed clouds on the building to create the reflection. The piece is 48" x 48" on a wood panel. I finished it by topping the entire painting with clear resin. The painting is framed.

This is one of my favorite pieces from my Lily collection. It is mixed media on a wood panel. The gold horizon is gold leaf. The falling bubbles are clear beads placed prior to topping the entire piece in clear resin. The water has so much depth and is full of color. The painting is 36" x 48" and is framed.
I am an avid painter and potter. Since my time at Ringling in the 70's, I've concentrated on developing works of art that draw from my experiences throughout my life and from my travels around the world.
Welcome to my Atelier
I use many different and mixed mediums, such as acrylic, oils, encaustic, metal leaf, and resin. Each idea manifests in its own individual way by using the different mediums. I like using fire, resin, varnish, wax, and gold leaf to achieve the unique finished piece.
Located in Berkeley Lake, GA, my 2,800 square foot Atelier includes my painting studio, a resin booth, and my ceramics studio with two electric kilns and a gas fired raku kiln.

"I like to warm the resin before applying to help spread
evenly over the painting"
"I spread the clear resin with my hands to apply evenly
over the painting"
"Even though I resin in a dust free booth, some dust finds
its way to the painting"
"I use a heat gun to heat the resin
and pop any bubbles or imperfections"
"I sand the entire resined piece with very fine sandpaper after the piece has dried completely to remove any bumps or rough spots and create better adhesion for the final coat"
"This painting is now framed"

This is my Waterfall Series. I shot the video of the work hanging to show the reflection caused by the clear resin top coat. Photographs of each piece can be found in my Portfolio.
This is my Sunrise Series. Each piece is top coated in clear resin. The video shows how the clear top coat of resin brings out the rich colors of the painting. Photographs of each piece can be found in my Portfolio.
